Me: (reading crap online) Ooh, Death is in the Smithsonian. Mike: (matter-of-factly) Really? Where'd you read that?

Me: Kevin posted it on Facebook.

And that, folks, is the conversation of a couple that's been married for almost 10 years. (Needless to say, he knew I was talking about the band).

New Speakers, But Not Now

"But we can't buy new speakers until we buy a house." "I agree."

Discussions over dinner in the new Thompson household. (We moved!) I married well. And someday, we'll buy a house and then buy stereo speakers that suit the shape and scale of our listening environment.

80s Flashback

Yesterday, I heard Air Supply's "All Out of Love" blasting from an open car window. Today, I heard Christopher Cross's "Sailing" at Happy Bones, a cafe on Broome Street where I spend way too much money buying coffee from attractively tattooed baristas who usually play things like Animal Collective or War On Drugs. These two songs are major signifiers of my childhood because, in the early 80s, my older sister wore out both cassettes. What are you trying to tell me, world?
